The duo was first called 'Bureau' when they got together in 2005. They first signed on to independent record label High Voltage Sounds. Then on November, they released their first single called "After Midnight"/"Dollhouse". Two years later, Bureau disbanded and formed the band 'Daggers' this time they signed on to Label Fandango in October. With 'Daggers' the duo released another single called "Money"/"Magazine". Unfortunately, the single did not do well and thus released the last song from 'Daggers' which the song is called "Unspoken". Here, they disbanded 'Daggers'.
The duo then got together again and decided to form 'Hurts' in 2009. They then released their first album as 'Hurts' which is called "Happiness" in 2010. With this album, they gained success and reached the Top 10 in 12 European countries and selling over 1 million copies. Hurts have also sold more than 1 million singles worldwide. "Happiness" debuted at number four in the UK Albums Chart, selling 25,000 copies in its first week on sale and making it the fastest selling debut album by a band in 2010. They went on to release two more albums by the titles of "Exile" (2013) and "Surrender" (2014). Both albums and the band has now gained a large popularity and fanbase.
